Gone but never forgotten, Check Yo’ Ponytail, Los Angeles’s one-of-a-kind bi-weekly dance party has made a triumphant return to the LA party scene. IHEARTCOMIX, Media Contender, and Paparazzi teamed up to resurrect Check Yo’ Ponytail, now dubbed CYP2. This 2.0 version of one of LA’s most hotly tipped parties is reason for supreme celebration! Everything that made Check Yo’ Ponytail a defining sound in the Los Angeles (and at times the national) music scene is returning in this newest incarnation.

Always one to embrace new talent, party creators Danny Johnson (Media Contender) and Franki Chan (I Heart Comix) are thrilled with the sold-out shows that they've had so far. Franki Chan says, “CYP2 will remain true to the past, focusing on what’s next, while bringing a few tried and true heavyweights every now and again.” The first few weeks of the party have featured performances from CMJ-heavyweights Big Freedia, fuzzed out Subpopers Dum Dum Girls, tropical punkers Abe Vigoda, dancy-dreamscapers Teengirl Fantasy, electro-goth Tobacco(Tom Fec from Black Moth Super Rainbow) and many more!

Just as important as the music,CYP2’s open-format, genre-bending approach to booking ensures the same wild and unique type of party-ready audience that Check Yo’ Ponytail parties of yore would deliver. From rap to electro and queercore to indie rock, no stone is left unturned while bestowing the new best bands in the game upon Check Yo’ Ponytail’s loyal followers. “Breaking down scene walls and allowing people from all walks to enjoy that which is most important to us is our main goal,” explains Chan.

 Former CYP artists have included:
Justice, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan, Matt & Kim, Diplo, Crystal Castles, Simian Mobile Disco, The Horrors, MSTRKRFT, Ok Go, Surkin, Heartsrevolution, Dan Deacon, The Toxic Avenger, Spank Rock, Switch, Bonde Do Role, MEN
