LA Spring Fair April 8-17 in Irwindale

The first annual LA Spring Fair opens Friday, April 8 and continues through Sunday, April 17 at Toyota Speedway & Event Center in Irwindale, CA, conveniently located about 20 miles from Los Angeles in the heart of Southern California. The LA Spring Fair rolls into town before the summer heat, promising comfortable April temperatures to go with its comfortable family atmosphere. The all ages family event will provide eight days of non-stop entertainment (NASCAR racing, monster trucks, freestyle MX, the Kent Family Circus and more), attractions, shopping, food and fun, with 50 rides (from high adrenaline thrills to leisurely family amusements and familiar kiddie rides) and midway games, along with top notch musical performers such as Bow Wow Wow, The Romantics, A Flock Of Seagulls, Rick Springfield, Bo Bice, Reyli, Kris Allen and more. The LA Spring Fair will feature daily shows and exhibitions by Kent Family Circus, Kids’ Celebration Game Show, Kyra Sundance and her Stunt Dog Team, Rainforest Exhibit and Educational Show, American Diving Dogs, Pirates, Movie Stunt Adventure and Swamp Master Alligator Show. Regular adult ticket prices are only $10 in advance or $15 at the gate. Children’s tickets are $5 and kids 5 years old and under are free. Each ticket provides access to that day’s concerts (a feature unique in the Southern California fair circuit) and special events at the fair. The LA Spring Fair “Mega Pass” is also available until April 1, 2011 for only $35 plus fees and entitles the ticket holder to admission to the fair and an all-day carnival ride pass. VIP Concert Tickets can also be purchased for $19 plus fees. All advance tickets are available at www.losangelespringfair.com and at Southern California Walgreens stores. Parking is available at the speedway for $10. The LA Spring Fair will feature over 50 food vendors ranging from popular favorites like Funnel Cakes and Cotton Candy to vegetarian and vegan options. Fair attendees can choose from 50 food items on a stick, ranging from a traditional Corn Dog on-a-stick to Fried Pickle on-a-stick, German Sausage on-a-stick, Monkey Tails (chocolate covered banana on-a-stick) and even Salad on-a-stick. The line-up of daily special events and concerts is as follows: Friday, April 8 Bow Wow Wow The 1980s British New Wave group featuring lead vocalist Annabella Lwin and known for their massive pop hit “I Want Candy” make a special appearance at the fair. 9pm, Grandstand The Romantics This American New Wave/power pop band will be performing their radio favorites such as “What I Like About You,” “Talking In Your Sleep” and “One In A Million.” 7:45pm, Grandstand A Flock of Seagulls The Grammy-winning British band whose hits include “I Ran (So Far Away),” “Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You),” “Space Age Love Song” and “The More You Live, The More You Love” was also well-known for their unique haircuts. 6:30pm, Grandstand Saturday, April 9 NASCAR racing The LA Spring Fair comes alive with the sound of 800 horsepower race cars as they take the track for the 2011 opening night of racing. The Speedway features two banked oval tracks--one half-mile and one third-mile--where top professional drivers will hit speeds of more than 130mph. Racing takes place throughout the day with action beginning on the track at noon, qualifying at 3pm, heat races at 4pm and the main event beginning at 8pm. Speedway Michael Jackson Fan Day with a special performance by Jeffrey Perez in "The Legend Continues" Michael Jackson Tribute Show Anyone wearing Michael Jackson apparel who arrives at the fair before 2pm on April 9 will be admitted FREE. The evening will be highlighted by a special Michael Jackson tribute performance from Jeffrey Perez in “The Legend Continues.” 6pm, Grandstand Sunday, April 10 Mariachi Festival Noon-7pm Loverboy This multiplatinum Canadian rock band has sold millions of records worldwide and is known for their hits “Turn Me Loose,” “Working For The Weekend,” “Hot Girls In Love,” “Queen Of The Broken Hearts,” “This Could Be Your Night” and “Heaven In Your Eyes.” 8pm, Grandstand Wednesday, April 13 Rick Springfield Grammy Award-winning artist Rick Springfield--best known for his #1 single “Jessie’s Girl”--has had 17 Top 40 hits and will treat fans to classic songs as well as new material from his 2008 Venus In Overdrive CD. 8pm, Grandstand Bo Bice Bo Bice of American Idol fame has earned two gold records for the three CDs he’s released since appearing on the hit FOX TV show, including The Real Thing, featuring the chart-topping single “Inside Your Heaven.” TBA, Grandstand Thursday, April 14 Reyli Latin singing sensation Reyli will perform some of his all-time hits. This hugely successful singer/songwriter has sold over one million albums worldwide in the past 10 years. 8pm, Grandstand Friday, April 15 Monster Trucks Four of the country’s top Monster Trucks will compete in a freestyle jumping contest leading up to the biggest moment of the fair…A world record attempt for the longest jump in a Monster Truck. The record stands at 202 feet; that’s 70% of a football field. In addition, the night will feature a special appearance by a Jet Powered, Fire Breathing Fire Engine. 6pm, Speedway Boost Mobile FreestyleMX.com presented by Monster Energy Ten of the best motocross freestyle riders in the country compete for top honors in this amazing FMX jumping competition, which will feature gravity-defying airborne stunts and jumps as the riders soar four stories over the speedway between take-off ramps that are 100 feet apart. In addition, a vert contest will be held where riders compete for the highest jump of the night on a special set of ramps. 7:30pm, Speedway Saturday, April 16 NASCAR racing Racing takes place throughout the day with action beginning on the track at noon, qualifying at 5pm and the main event beginning at 7:30pm. Speedway Fireflight In the past five years, this cross-over Christian rock band has had five #1 radio singles. Lead singer Dawn Michele, whose arresting voice has drawn comparisons to Joan Jett and The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, will rock the stage performing the band’s hits “Unbreakable,” “The Hunger” and “Stand Up.” Opening bands TBA. 6:15pm, Grandstand Sunday, April 17 Kris Allen After winning season eight of American Idol, Kris’ 2009 self-titled album entered the Billboard 200 album chart at #11. The CD features the hit singles “Live Like We’re Dying,” “The Truth” and “Alright With Me.” 8pm, Grandstand Stellar Kart This Phoenix-based Christian pop rock band is touring in support of their new CD Everything Is Different Now.
