Redondo Beach kite festival still on Sunday

In light of the millions of fish that recently descended upon Redondo Beach King Harbor, the Redondo Pier Association is trying to alert the public that the 37th Annual Festival of the Kite will still take place. Please note, the fish incident took place approximately 1 mile North of the Redondo Pier and has not impacted the immediate area.

The 37th Annual Festival of the Kite is one of L.A.’s longest-running kite festivals. This all-ages event is open to the public and prizes will be awarded for the best hand-made kite, best ground display, highest flying kite, and the youngest and youngest at heart kite flyers. 'Big Bertha', a 25’ by 14’ foot kite will be launched to kick-off the event.

The 8th Annual Yo-Yo competition will feature some of the country's top talent and the popular annual Corn Dog Eating Contest will take place immediate following. Other highlights include martial arts demonstrations, traditional Japanese Taiko drummers, yo-yo instruction, an interactive drum circle and live music by "For an Audience of One". The festival will culminate with a mass group kite ascension flight on the beach immediately South of the pier.
