Vaudeville Lives! coming to Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena April 10

On Sunday, April 10th, the Coffee Gallery Backstage will play host to the music and mayhem of Vaudeville Lives! a variety show that appears at different venues in the Los Angeles area and features the talents of local performers, from aspiring amateurs to world class entertainers. With award winning jazz vocalist Sharon Evans and veteran impressionist Rick Rogers as the stars, this version of the show will also present singer/comedienne Esther “Snooks” Rosenberg of North Hollywood, and vocalist Sarah Stone of Tujunga.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Esther Rosenberg is an “eighty-something” singer and comedienne who gained the name of Snooks because of her similarity to Fanny Brice. Kept from going on the stage by her mother, Esther has never given up on her dream of being in show business and has made two appearances in Vaudeville Lives! in 2010, including the fundraiser that featured guitarist and inventor Del Casher. Her natural wit and pleasing personality have made her a real favorite with fans of the show.

New to the Vaudeville stage is Miss Sarah Stone, an aspiring singer and actress with an incredible voice and stage presence who has her sights set on Broadway. A student at Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, CA, she has appeared in high school productions of Rent, Footloose, Grease, MacBeth, Light Up the Sky, and other shows, giving her fine experience toward the start of a career. She also appeared in two of Foothill Performing Arts Council’s Young Performers’ Summer Workshops: Milestones and Silver Spittoons. Sarah will be joined in a duet by former classmate Sara Savedra of Sunland-Tujunga who has also appeared in Verdugo Hills High School’s musical productions and now attends Glendale Community College.

The show Vaudeville Lives! is the vehicle for producers Sharon Evans and Rick Rogers to bring together people from a cross section of society to perform in a variety show. “Vaudeville is great for giving talented and dedicated performers an opportunity, and it’s a natural place for mentoring,” says Sharon Evans. “It’s what made America’s entertainers the best in the world.”
