Descanso Gardens offers mushroom class and more Jan. 21

Mushrooms and Gardens: What? Why How?, 9:30 a.m., Jan. 21: Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. Learn about the fungus among us, as well as those in our parks and gardens by Florence Nishida of the Natural History Museum. Members free, $10 nonmembers.



Rose Pruning Demonstration, 11 a.m., Jan. 21: Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. Learn the basics of rose pruning from horticulturist Rachel Young. Includes discussion and a demonstration. Free with admission: $8 adults, $6 senior/students and $3 children 5-12.



Meet the New Roses, 1 p.m., Jan. 21: Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. Hybridizer Tom Carruth will present on the newest roses of the season. Class includes an illustrated lecture. Free with admission: $8 adults, $6 senior/students and $3 children 5-12.



About Descanso Gardens: Established as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, near the interchange of the 2 and 210 freeways. The Gardens are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas Day. Parking is free.
