Shimmy Showcase Sunday

January 29 – Amber hosts this Shimmyshowcase and welcomes newcomer Ingrid, Siraj and Good Witch dance troupe to the Viento y Agua stage. Sunday evenings at Viento y Agua with Shimmyshowcase are a perfect way to relax and enjoy great food, great coffee, and fabulous entertainment, so why don’t you come join us! Come early so you can order your sandwich and drink in time to catch the first performance at 5:30.


Everyone is invited for a relaxing evening among friends. Select your favorite beverage, hot or cold, from an assortment of coffees, teas, smoothies or juice; add to that a tasty sandwich or pastry; and then seat yourself in the entertainment area to enjoy some really great dancing at NO cover charge!



SHIMMY SHOWCASE begins at 5:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; 562-434-1182.



Note—N405-W22 (7th St) transition is closed for construction, so for those coming from the south, the best way is to exit the 405 at Westminster as the detour indicates. Then take Westminster through the PCH intersection until it turns into 2nd street. Take the first right immediately after the bridge and an immediate left. That street will turn into 4th and Viento Y Aqua will be on the right.



Please arrive at least 15 minutes before show time (earlier if you’re a performer!), so you can first stop at the refreshment counter to get a delicious beverage, snack or sandwich; then head for the show area and grab a seat so you don’t miss any of our great performers!

Below is our upcoming schedule for the next several weeks. Note that with our March 10 Anniversary party, Shimmyshowcase for the first time will be on a Saturday! February 5 – DARK -- No SHIMMYSHOWCASE



February 12 - As Valentine’s Day draws near, our newest coordinator Draca welcomes guest dancers Reba, Siraj, Bella and Tehani to the Shimmyshowcase stage.



February 19 – DARK -- No SHIMMYSHOWCASE (Belly Dancer of the Universe Competition)



February 26 – Shimmyshowcase will be taken over by the ever-popular JJ & the Habibis troupe on this night, and coordinator Saviya couldn’t be happier to host this wonderful, versatile troupe. Be sure to join us as the Habibis are sure to put on a delightfully fun program.



March 4 – Abraiha returns to coordinate another Shimmyshowcase with lovely guest dancers May, Liz, Shauntel, and Janice.



March 10 – (that’s right—a SATURDAY!) --Shimmyshowcase celebrates its 9th anniversary with a special program featuring Shimmyshowcase coordinators, past and present! For the first time, Shimmyshowcase will be on a SATURDAY evening so we have more time to celebrate. We’re also starting a little later—around 6:30 p.m. Saviya has the lead in planning for this year’s anniversary party and already has one of Shimmyshowcase’s founders, Alexiis, on tap to perform, as well as current coordinator Ilana and the Om Sisters. Please mark your calendars so you won’t miss the opportunity to celebrate Shimmyshowcase’s reincarnation in our new home, Viento y Agua Coffee House!



March 18 – DARK –No Shimmyshowcase. Instead, we hope you can attend Saviya’s “Gypsy Fire” show in Long Beach! More details to follow.
