Glen Campbell to be honored during Malibu Music Awards Sept. 22

The 5th Annual Malibu Music Awards will honor the success and achievements of unique musical artists who have made significant contributions to the music industry in the past year. Industry legends Glen Campbell and Seth Riggs are among the recipients and will be awarded Lifetime Achievement and Impact honors respectively. This year’s ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:30PM Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 at the Malibu Inn.  Red Carpet arrivals will begin at 6 p.m. The Malibu Music Awards benefits the Malibu Symphony Association, a 501c3 organization, local community music efforts, and local children's music programs.

Comedian S. Scott Conner and magician Krystyn Lambert will co-host the ceremony and present awards to prestigious artists in music of the past year. Performances will include NBC’s The Sing Off Season 3 a cappella champions Pentatonix, Samantha Ronson & The Undertakers, American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze, Nick Richards & Boys Don’t Cry, Dominic & Scott Kay of the Commodores, country artist Harley Jay, Thomas King, Steve Scott, and more.

Previous Malibu Music Award honorees include Dick Van Dyke, Lainie Kazan, Colbie Caillat, Tom Petty, Pink, Tanya Tucker, Frank Stallone, Joel Diamond, Grace Slick, Johnny Mandel, Lee Ritenour, Kenny G, and Mort Lindsey.

The Red Carpet will begin at 6:00 PM while a VIP reception honoring Glen Campbell, Seth Riggs, Pentatonix, and various nominees will follow until 7:30. Currently, only VIP tickets are available at $45. VIP tickets include access to the pre-awards reception, VIP seating, and gift bags. VIP Tickets will increase to $60 at the door. At 7:00 we will release $25 Standing Room only general admission tickets. Tickets are available to purchase online at http://www.malibumusicawards.com/tickets.php.

The award ceremony will cap off the weeklong Malibu Music Festival that begins on the evening of September 17th and ends with the awards ceremony on the 22nd. The festival will feature musical talent at Malibu venues with an announcement of the festival winner by a celebrity judge on the 22nd. A detailed map will be available at local businesses which includes a complete list of all participating restaurants, such as Geoffrey’s, Charlie’s, Dukes, Sunset Restaurant & Beach Bar, Kristy’s, Moonshadows, Spruzzo’s, Savory, Guido’s, and others that indicate the dates, times and locations of festival activities. All festivities for the week will be free to the public.

The Malibu Music Festival also includes an original song-writing competition sponsored by Sonic Bids in which the winner will receive a trophy, one-year membership to Sonic Bids, a Cash Prize, a three-song recording package on iTunes, management consulting, and merchandise.
