Jon Clayden named Musicians Institute's voice department program director

Musicians Institute (www.mi.edu) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Clayden as Program Director of the school's Voice Department beginning in July 2009.

As a core and founding member of the UK alternative band Pitchshifter, Jon has performed live in twenty-five countries, including festivals such as Ozzfest, Warped Tour and Big Day Out. Jon has toured and played live with industry giants such as Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Incubus, Queens Of The Stoneage, Tool, The Offspring, Metallica, Pantera, Ice-T, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, and Static X.

Jon’s resume as an educator includes teaching Music Creation and Music Business Management at schools and colleges in the UK and U.S. He was formerly the Associate Director of Career Development for both the Los Angeles Film School and the Los Angeles Recording School, and he holds a Master’s Degree focusing on Music Business Management from the University of Middlesex in London.

Mr. Clayden currently owns and operates PSI Records, licensing music to movie and TV productions including “Transformers,” “Star Trek,” “Harry Potter,” “Halloween,” “Bond: Quantum of Solace,” “Valkyrie,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Doubt.”

His own music has also been featured in movies, trailers, commercials, video games and TV shows such as “Paycheck,” “Mortal Kombat,” “Catwoman,” “VW Bug,” “SX Superstar,” “Test Drive,” “Twisted Metal,” “Brainscan” and more.

Jon’s studio experience includes co-writing, programming, engineering, and/or producing albums and DVDs for labels such as Geffen, MCA and Sanctuary with such top producers as Dave Jerden (Alice in Chains, Offspring, Jane’s Addiction) and Machine (Fall Out Boy, Lamb Of God, Lost Prophets), resulting in industry accolades including a “Best Video Award” from Kerrang magazine.

His musical collaborations include studio recordings with Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys) and John Stanier (Helmet) and live performances with Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Steve Jones (Sex Pistols) and Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver).
