YOUR HOST IS ROD O’RILEY OF SONGSALIVE!
Rod O'Riley is the writing and performing name of Rodney Dean Stansfield. RDS is a guitar salesperson by day, songwriter by night, and many other things in the hours in between. A native of Los Angeles, raised in his parents' native Vancouver, BC, and schooled all over the West Coast. Currently learning the fine art of bass playing, producing, and letting the computer take care of the hard parts. Active as an organizer in science fiction fandom, he also keeps himself busy as an activist for animal rights, gay/lesbian/bi rights, and anarchism. And, of course, for the continued viability of live music and the venues that support it. Rodney has been involved with Songsalive! since 2002. In 2007, he was honored to assist with the creation of the new Songsalive! chapter in Orange County, California

GUEST SPEAKER:

BOB LEGGETT
Bob Leggett has been heavily involved with the music business for most of this decade. Bob has been a music fan and support since childhood, and got his start working with one of Orange County's most prolific independent musicians, Kerry Getz. Because of his work with Kerry, Bob began writing for Live Magazine, which subsequently led to the Orange County Music Awards. This caused Bernard Baur of Music Connection Magazine to take notice, and Bob spent the better part of four years with Music Connection, compiling more than 150 reviews. He has since started his own music competition, the So Cal Music Awards, which will start its fourth year in October, and his own company, Shout it Out Promotions (www.myspace.com/shoutitoutpromo), which works with independent musicians, providing management, promotional and booking services. Bob is also the LA Community Coordinator for Songsalive! and serves as the Songsalive!representative to COSMO.

TOPIC:
Why are Performance and CD Reviews important?Everyone's willing to tell you what they think of your product, but how much real use can you get out of all those opinions? Who really counts, and who should you listen to? Are we doing all this for ourselves as artists, for the critics, or for the world at large? Or maybe, all three at once?

Bob is also looking for artists for both showcase opportunities and corporate branding.
