Bassist Mark Kelley joins Oceanographer

In addition to his duties as bass player of The Roots and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mark Kelley has joined Brooklyn based indie rock band, Oceanographer. Oceanographer consists of Jeremy Yocum (vocals/guitar), Kevin Plessner (guitar), Eric Elterman (vocals/synths), Zach Eichenhorn (drums), and Mark Kelley (bass).

Oceanographer have their feet in Brooklyn, but their roots stretch back to the North Texas psych scene that spawned their earliest incarnation over a decade ago. With three full lengths under their belt and a few miscellaneous recordings knocking around online, they continue to evolve through changes in instrumentation and personnel. What hasn't broken continuity is their trademark sound: arpeggiated guitar, ethereal leads, other-worldly samples, melodic vocals and driving beats, marked throughout by an emotional sincerity and transparency. The Brooklyn five piece recently finished recording their third album, Spilling Blood, which was self-released in October 2012. Spilling Blood is available in the iTunes Music Store and Amazon.com.

Mark Kelley toured with John Scofield, Mos Def, Will Calhoun, Meshell Ndegeocello and many others before joining The Roots in August 2011 andLate Night with Jimmy Fallon shortly after, where he regularly backs the biggest artists in music today. Now he brings his innovative style to Oceanographer. "Mark is an incredible player and presence in the band. To say we're thrilled to have him as part of our crew is an understatement." says, Kevin Plessner.

Oceanographer will be making their first televised appearance as musical guests on The Artie Lange Show on Friday, June 5th LIVE at 9pm EST on DIRECTV ch. 239. Their next live performance takes place at the historic Mercury Lounge (217 E Houston Street) at 6:30pm on Monday, June 10thin New York City.
