Sylvia Brooks debuts at Jazz Bakery in Culver City

After several smashing engagements at Sterling’s in Studio City, Sylvia Brooks is making her debut performance at the fabulous Jazz Bakery in Culver City, with two new shows on Thursday August 30 at 8:00PM and 9:30PM.
Under the musical direction of Tom Garvin, with staging by Jon Engstrom, and lighting design by Keith Endo, Ms. Brooks will bring to life her new concert performance of “Fashionably Later … an evening of song.”
Sylvia was influenced at a very early age by many legendary jazz performers. Her father, a renowned jazz pianist, played with such icons as Peggy Lee, Buddy Rich, Ira Sullivan, and Dizzie Gillespie, to name a few. So it was only natural that Ms. Brooks went on to become an established performer in Los Angeles, New York and Miami.
A Musical Theater star, Ms. Brooks has starred as Dorothy Brock in numerous productions of 42 Street both nationally and internationally. Other regional credits include Anything Goes, Man of LaMancha, The Mad Woman of Chaillot and West Side Story. No stranger to television, Ms. Brooks has guest starred on Bay Watch, General Hospital, Dallas, Designing Women, and the new comedy pilot Mama and Son.
