The Grove launches summer concert series July 6

Angelenos will enjoy an added month of summer music this year, Wednesday night’s in July at 7:30 p.m. when Citi presents The Grove Summer Concert Series, produced by Chris Isaacson, who has produced and promoted over 450 events and some of the most influential stars of his generation. Isaacson is also creator and founder of Los Angeles’ renowned Upright Cabaret. Families and friends will gather in the park at The Grove and enjoy the warm summer evenings as they catch live performances by some of the hottest names and rising stars in music. Free and open to the public, a premier lineup of performers includes:



JULY 6 at 7:30 p.m. – Talented singer and guitar phenomenon, Orianthi, will kick-off the Summer Concert Series and have The Grove crowd on their feet when she performs. The Australia native who has opened for guitar hero Steve Vai, backed up Carrie Underwood, traded solos with the legendary Carlos Santana and shared the stage with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, will dazzle the crowd not only with her gifted guitar playing but also with her powerful rock and roll vocals. Her first hugely popular single “According to You” off of her album Believe has been played on radio stations across the country.


JULY 13 at 7:30 p.m. – American Idol alums Frenchie Davis and Blake Lewis will entertain the audience when they perform together showcasing the talented duos remarkable vocals. A finalist on NBC’s mega-hit show “The Voice,” Frenchie Davis wowed audiences in the hit Broadway Musical “RENT” and starred in the West Coast tour of “Dreamgirls,” “Sing, Mahalia, Sing” and “Ain’t Misbehavin” for which Davis and the cast were honored with a 2009 Grammy Award-nomination for Best Cast Recording. Blake Lewis, first runner-up on season six of American Idol won over the country with his talent, creativity and endless eclectic musical identity. Lewis’ debut album Audio Day Dream sold more than 350,000 copies and the single of his second album Heartbreak on Vinyl hit #1 on two Billboard charts making Lewis the first American Idol artist to score #1 hits on both of those charts. Lewis recently joined the cast of popular anime series Durarara and can be seen in videos for DJ Dan’s “Operator” and BT’s “Suddenly.” His new single “Till We See the Sun” will be released this summer.


JULY 20 at 7:30 p.m. – Grammy Award winner, Richard Marx, one of the most recognizable personalities in music for more than 20 years is sure to thrill the crowd when he performs for a packed house at The Grove. With over 30 million albums sold and the writer of 13 number one songs, the multiple Grammy Award-nominee became the first male solo artist in history to have his first seven singles reach the top 5 on Billboard’s singles chart including well-known hits, “Hold on to the Nights,” “Satisfied” and the smash hit “Right Here Waiting.” In addition to being one of the most talented singer-songwriters in the industry, Marx is also a successful producer who has worked with some of the biggest names in music including Barbara Streisand, Josh Groban, Leann Rimes and Keith Urban.


JULY 27 at 7:30 p.m. – Closing The Grove’s Summer Concert Series with their Texas-meets-Tennesee grit and tenacity will be country sensations Lonestar. The band has sold over 10 million albums, with ten #1 country hits as well as nine Top 40 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 charts including, “I’m Already There,” “Come Cryin’ to Me” and their smash hit ballad “Amazed” which spent eight weeks at the #1 spot on the country charts as well as reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band’s tenth album Party Heard Around the World is available now.
