Learn why cities have programs to promote the construction of tens of thousands of rain gardens nationwide. See how to design and install a rain garden and barrel system. Capture seasonal rain water for future use and/or gather it for infiltration through a depressed garden area to recharge the ground water.
Discover how you can develop a sustainable landscape which promotes native wildlife, utilizes less irrigation, and uses fewer fertilizers and pesticides. The emphasis will also be on soils, amendments, plant selection, irrigation, mulching and maintenance.

Improve flexibility, balance and strength in the open air surrounded by the beauty of nature in the Arboretum. Certified yoga instructor Candyce Columbus will take students on a 10-15 minute warm up stroll through the garden prior to an hour-long rejuvenating traditional Indian Hatha yoga class. Each session will include asanas (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing exercises), vinaysa (yoga flow series), mudras (yoga in the hands), meditation (guided) and relaxation.
Students should bring a substantial yoga mat and blanket or towel for extra-padding as needed, and wear comfortable clothes.
Candyce Columbus: Yoga practice has been an integral part of Candyce’s life and well-being for more than 16 years. Since 2009 she has been sharing the knowledge passed on to her from many wonderful teachers. Regardless of fitness or flexibility she believes everyone can benefit from yoga. Her classes are well-balanced, varied, informative and enjoyable. She is dedicated to her students and to helping them lead active, healthy lives.
