Round up the kiddos and celebrate autumn at the Descanso Gardens Harvest Festival Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22-23. This Descanso tradition includes food, frolic and a puppet show. This fun isn't just kid-stuff -- grownups are welcome to dress up as well! (Time to see if that spandex Spider Man costume still fits!)
Here’s what the weekend holds:
Costume parades, 10:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday: Bring your fairies, superheroes and other costumed revelers for a festive parade through the Gardens. Small fry and adults alike will meet at the Center Circle. Free with Gardens admission.
Moo Doo Puppets, 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday: Enjoy some silly, seasonal fun when Moo Doo Puppets presents “Halloween Sleeping Beauty in Outer Space.” Sure to please your tiny princess and budding astronaut! In the Under the Oaks Theater. Free with Gardens admission.
Chuck Wagon Grilling Station, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday: Chow down on chuckwagon favorites served by Patina Restaurant Group in the Courtyard. Hot dogs, corn and other hearty fare will be for sale.
Admission to Descanso Gardens is $8 general, $6 seniors/students with I.D., $3 children 5 to 12; children 4 and younger free. Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011. Information: (818) 949-4200.
About Descanso Gardens: Established as a public garden in 1953, Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, near the interchange of the 2 and 210 freeways.
