dublab guest music curator for Art LA Contemporary Jan. 19-22

Art Los Angeles Contemporary (ALAC), the international contemporary art fair of the west coast, which takes place from January 19-22, 2012 at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA, has selected Jesse Peterson and Carlos Nino of dublab as guest music curators for the ALAC 2012 Music Series.

Peterson and Niño will bring a contemporary music program to ALAC by setting up a music space inside the Barker Hangar. To purchase tickets for Art Los Angeles Contemporary, please visit www.artlosangelesfair.com.

As a non-profit web radio collective, recording and film production company, dublab has been at the forefront of the Los Angeles music scene since its inception in 1999. Acts that will be performing at ALAC include: Mark "Frosty" McNeil & Carlos Niño, GB (Gifted and Blessed), Turn on the Sunlight, Contact Field Orchestra, Farmer Dave Scher, The Americans, Yaakov Levy, and El Haru Kuroi with a DJ set by Carlos Nino and Mark ‘Frosty’ McNeill.

Unlike traditional radio, the dublab djs have total freedom of selection. Visitors and exhibitors will experience many different sounds that all have the same soulful root. Since their debut in 1999, dublab have extended their creative action to include art exhibits, film projects, event production and record releases. From bringing dance floors to a boil, exploring magic experimentalism or spinning far-out, eclectic sets, the dublab soundsystem reflects all shades of future roots sound.

“Art Los Angeles Contemporary is about bringing the best of what Los Angeles has to offer to contemporary art lovers from all over the world,” said Tim Fleming, director, Art Los Angeles Contemporary. “Having Carlos and Jesse curate our music series continues our commitment to delivering an inspiring celebration of culture, where contemporary art and music intersect,” he continued.

The dublab soundsystem has been featured at the following venues amongst many others: MOCA, LACMA, Barnsdall Art Park, Art Center College of Design, CalArts, A+D Museum, The Getty Center, Page Museum/La Brea Tar Pits, Disney Hall, UCLA/Hammer Museum, Hollywood Bowl, Natural History Museum of LA County, El Rey Theatre, Henry Fonda Theatre.
