Local Pasadena R&B/blues artist, Evonne Rivera was recently described by Music Connection Magazine as an artist with "Extraordinary vocals- you can't help but think of legends like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and Billie Holiday." Backed by A-list musicians, Evonne presents an intimate and entertaining mix of originals and select covers in her set that takes you on an inspirational journey of love, passion, heartache and empowerment. We're excited to present Evonne Rivera's debut performance at The Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena, featuring renowned percussionist Richie Gajate Garcia (Phil Collins, Sting, Celia Cruz), Paulie Cerra on sax (Bobby Bland, Little Milton, Jimmy Johnson) and local guitarist John Huldt!
Evonne Rivera was recently described as one of "LA's most promising independent artists" by LA Women In Music (LAWIM), named a 2008 finalist for their annual prestigious Comet award and her song "Unsteady" is featured on the LAWIM "Best of The Best" Compilation CD released August 2008! (Available at www.lawim.com) Evonne released her debut album WHAT IF through her own label sweet bottom records and is also one of 14 women featured on the Women On The Move "Beautiful" CD raising funds for domestic violence women's shelters. Both cds can be previewed and purchased online on such websites as Itunes, CDBaby and Rhapsody. Evonne Rivera currently performs in and around Los Angeles and is presently preparing to start her own benefit tour by Spring 2009 to raise awareness and funds for single mothers in maternity homes throughout California.
