Galatic readying Brass Tacks Tour

Kicking off in Athens GA on October 8th, Galactic’s Brass Tacks Tour will be turning up the heat just in time to warm up cooling US cities this fall. Honing their legendarily high energy live funk show by touring non-stop, the talented New Orleans five-piece spent the summer playing festivals in Europe, Japan and the US, including stops at Outside Lands in San Francisco and Austin City Limits in Texas.

Their acclaimed 2007 release From the Corner to the Block featured a who’s who of underground MC’s, including Lyrics Born, Juvenile, Chali 2na and Boots Riley, and the critics cheered. Rolling Stone called the release “a call to get down when you've had it up to here with everything else,” while the BBC raved “it's hard to imagine a more succinct display of old Orleans brass and New Orleans bounce.” Harp magazine gushed, “a singular musical achievement. Almost every tune is a hip-hop classic, welding vibrant storytelling, strong voices and agile wordplay to a rhythmic and melodic genius that is simply galactic.”

On the Brass Tacks Tour, Galactic will be accompanied by the Crown City Rockers from Oakland CA, along with two very special guests and NOLA superstars Shamarr Allen on trumpet and Corey Henry on trombone. This marks the first time Galactic has toured with a horn section, which will be an exciting addition to an already stellar live performance. One of the most entertaining, exciting and accomplished bands making music today, Galactic and their Brass Tacks tour will be a not-to-be-missed dance party.
