End o' week musings

Wow, this was one of those fast/slow weeks. It seemed to drag on and on, but now it's Friday it seems like it whooshed by.

Last Friday I had a nice chat with Steve of I Am Ghost. Their new album is great and I encourage you to check it out. It will be released in October.

Saturday I danced at the Los Angeles County Fair. It went alright, but I was super hot when I finished-- the stage was outside and, although there was some shade, it wasn't enough for the warm day. After changing, My friend Andrew joined Zaynah and I for a wander around the Fair. We enjoyed rootbeer floats, the hula dancers and displays at the Flower Pavilion, shopping, the animals (I love the little piggies!) and all the other interesting sights.

Sunday I relaxed. I was exhausted and I needed to keep quiet. I lazed around most of the day, although I did go on a walk in the evening and the moon was absolutely beautiful.

I had a vacation day on Monday so I went to Bellflower to visit my "foster parents" Carin and Tom. We went out to lunch and dinner, played croquet, swam in the pool, listened to Stravinsky and soaked in the spa. I slept quite well that night!

Tuesday I interviewed Joe from the local band Thelonius Dub and later Paul Mullin, the playwright of "The Sequence" which is coming to Boston Court Theatre in Pasadena. And Wednesday I chatted with Brett from the prog rock group Echolyn. I finished my work by talking with Jamie Lee Curtis about her new children's book, "Big Words for Little People."

Tonight I will be going to a party for my deceased friend, Robert "The G-Man" Shields. It will be hard because I know it will dredge up all those feelings again, but it's the right thing to do by my friend.

Tomorrow you can tune in your TV or get on the Web and see me. Here's the info:

Next week I will be doing some Doo Dah duties and hopefully getting in a dance practice or two.
Photos we got 'em: Just a couple of cute pet pics.
In rotation this week: Joe Walla, Tom Petty, Offspring, Tribe of Gypsies and a long list of this n' that.
Thought for the week: It's good to laugh. I'm still not doing as best as I should. My family still has me down and then I have the party/wake tonight and I'm also going through a problem with my health. To be honest, I've been on the verge of tears for the past few days, which isn't my usual demeanor-- most of my friends tease me about being too positive! My boss talked to me today because she's concerned about me being overloaded with work, which I am, but for me it's cathartic. I love to keep busy and I love my job, so that's the least of my stress. And I had lunch with my special guy, who made me laugh a lot and that made me feel a bit better. I'll be starting my new yoga class tomorrow, so perhaps that will help take the edge off...
The hardest part is when I'm home alone in my little one bedroom apartment with only my pig pillow to hug (and he doesn't hug back). I feel so isolated right now. I'm trying to think upbeat thoughts and find more humor in my life. Now, dear readers, I turn to you-- any suggestions on how to get out of this funk??
Keep on rockin'
Mickie
