TOEronto, Ontario This year's Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) will feature an exhibit titled, The History of Rock and Roll. The exhibit will feature rock and roll memorabilia on loan from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland, Ohio as well as items from the international collection of Hard Rock Cafes. At the heart of the exhibit is a collection of shoes/boots from the private collection of local, well known, Podiatrist, Dr. Hartley Miltchin.
Dr. Miltchin was asked by CNE executives to loan shoes from the collection that exemplify the rock and roll era. Dr. Miltchin owns the world's largest private collection of footwear from celebrities, sports figures etc. The collection has grown to approximately 350 pairs and is often displayed at exhibits in the Bata Shoe Museum.
"I was thrilled to loan my shoes so that visitors of all ages can see their favorite star's shoes and boots." states Dr. Miltchin.
"It is truly an honour to be an integral part of this phenomenal exhibit. I have included shoes/boots from as far back as the custom made Chubby Checker boots he used to do THE TWIST on American Bandstand to more current, Eminem shoes. You will be able to see personally worn footwear from artists such as John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jackson 5, Elvis Presley, James Dean, Madonna, Spice Girls, Elton John, Billy Joel, Kim Mitchell, Rod Stewart, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Phil Collins, Shania Twain, Avril Lavine, Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler and others!"
The Exhibit is presented at the Direct Energy Building Hall A. It is free with park admission and is open from 10am-10pm daily.
Exhibit opening ceremonies will take place on August 20th at 10 am inside the Princes Gates. Dr. Miltchin will be available for interviews during the opening ceremonies which will be hosted by Canada's Lieutenant Governor Donald S. Ethell.
