Shonen Knife to release "Free Tim" in English and on tour

Legendary Japanese pop-punk, all-girl band Shonen Knife will be releasing the English-language version of Free Time on August 31 through Good Charamel Records, founded by Robby Takac of The Goo Goo Dolls.

With nearly three decades of releases and thousands of shows to their credit, the girls of Shonen Knife know how to deliver hard, yet poppy music, while keeping an element of mellow and kitsch in the mix.

Preparing to launch a month-long U.S. tour, kicking off September 8 in Seattle, the band will play all points in between before winding down October 2 in Buffalo.

On August 31, Good Charamel will also release for the first time, English-language, vinyl and digital versions of 2007’s fun! fun! fun!.

The band’s Live At Mohawk Place DVD is available now at indie stores and via the Internet beginning October 19. The live release was recorded during the band’s final stop on the 2009 "Super Group" Tour of North America at Buffalo, NY's Mohawk Place. Highlights include an encore performance by original member Atsuko, 18 songs from their extensive catalog, tunes such as “Giant Kitty,” “Antonio Baka Guy” and “Bear Up Bison,” as well as selections from their Super Group album, including exclusive interview footage. This is a must have item for any Shonen Knife collector.

Busy touring and playing major rock festivals such as Matt Groening’s All Tomorrow’s Festival in the UK, and Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas, the band also found time recently to record tracks for the “Powerpuff Girls” compilation as well as an AC/DC tribute album.

Shonen Knife also contributes 3 tracks to Good Charamel’s I Love J-Rock compilation, where they appear alongside such buzzing Japanese acts as TsuShiMaMiRe, LAZYgunsBRISKY and Molice to name a few. I Love J-Rock will be available on August 31.
