Star Anna & the Laughing Dogs at Spaceland Aug. 18

Americana darlings Star Anna & The Laughing Dogs create “haunting Northwest alt-country” (Seattle P-I) on their sophomore release The Only Thing That Matters. On tour throughout August, Star Anna & The Laughing Dogs will perform at Spaceland in Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 18 with special guest Mike McCready of Pearl Jam sitting in for a few songs.

“Star Anna is an American original. I am a huge fan of her music and especially her voice. She sings from a place of beauty and pain that translates to my soul and takes me to a higher place. In the vein of Neko Case and Lucinda Williams , Star is on her way, I hope to great musical heights.”— Mike McCready

With The Only Thing That Matters, Anna & The Dogs took a step into rock n’ roll with more vocal power, heavier, more passionate playing and an overall deeper darker vibe, walking the line between light and dark without falling too far to either side. It showcases the band’s ability to stand out without overpowering Star Anna’s throaty vocals.

“The young singer-songwriter exudes hard living, from her world-weary, head-turning voice and classic-sounding take on Americana straight through to her biting tales of love gone bad.” –(NPR Song of the Day)
