In late October, Sub Pop Records lost Andy Kotowicz, a longtime member of the label’s staff, to a tragic car accident. The music world has since banded together to support Andy’s family, with many of Sub Pop's artists and friends donating memorabilia for a charity auction- including items Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Jack White,Conan O’Brien, Band of Horses and many, many more.

Now, Louisville’s Crash Avenue has joined the cause, assembling a December compilation that they’re putting out as a pay-what-you-want release, with all proceeds benefiting the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation. Cheyenne Marie Mize is included in this amazing project, which features a gorgeous solo banjo & vocal version of PJ Harvey’s“Down By The Water.” Also included on the compilation is music from Emily Reo,Young Minds, Bikini, Weed and more.

Here’s a note from Crash Avenue’s president Jeffrey Smith regarding the compilation:

“We were greatly saddened by the untimely passing of Sub Pop's Andy Kotowicz. Yet, I think I can speak for all of us when we say we're also inspired by the heroism of Seattle business owner Kenny Johnson, who raced to the scene to save Andy's young daughter, and made a valiant effort to save Andy as well. While we only knew Andy for a brief moment, we can say without hesitation that the gang at Sub Pop are some of the most down-to-earth, awesome people to work with - all the more remarkable when considering the size and influence of the label. Starting with our December release, you can download the full compilation with a Radiohead name-your-own-price structure, with all proceeds going to the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation. You can find out more here - www.subpop.com/andy

Please take a moment to visit the Andy Kotowicz Family Foundation- if there’s any way you can support this amazing cause, whether by donating, or simply spreading the word…anything helps!
