Julienne Dweck has quietly been taking the New York/New Jersey indie scene by storm for some time now. Her packed gigs have been touching audiences’ hearts and minds for the past four years. And yet, she has never released any of her material to the wider public. Until now.

Julienne’s debut album – ‘On Paper’ – is the culmination of a lifetime’s work of scribbling in journals, trying out lyrics and creating music that is at once understated and powerful ; simple and brilliant.

‘On Paper’ is a lyrical masterpiece and will be appreciated by anyone who understands the subtle art of great songwriting and the simple beauty of an organic, acoustic sound. It is a demonstration of how the simplest lyrics can sometimes be the most beautiful, how the right vocal can transform a song into a highly emotional journey.

Stand-out songs such as the heartfelt ‘Small Solutions’, the quirkily brilliant ‘Invisible’ and the title track ‘On Paper’ demonstrate the range of Julienne’s songwriting ability. She can be funny, deep, personal, reflective and thoughtful – often all within one song.

Besides her songwriting, Julienne’s disarmingly smooth, sensual voice and simple yet beautiful piano arrangements help to create an acoustic, organic masterpiece of an album.

She has been inspired by and compared to some of the great voices in the American songwriting tradition. Fans and critics have put Julienne alongside the likes of Ingrid Michaelson, Regina Spektor and Carole King. The comparisons in no way exaggerate this artist’s unique talents.
On Paper

The release of this CD is the latest staging post in what Julienne herself describes as “an impossible journey.” Having reached this point in her music-making career, having wowed audiences at venues across New York, she is now finally ready to share her gift with the world.

The triumph of Julienne Dweck is that she has come this far while remaining true to herself and her music. ‘On Paper’ is not a commercially-minded release and Julienne has not compromised her sound one iota. Yet, this is still accessible, simple and heartfelt music.

Julienne Dweck’s inspirational music has won over enough hearts on the road already, with the release of ‘On Paper’ she’s set to win over many, many more.

Julienne will be donating the proceeds from the first 1000 hard copies of the CD to the American Jewish World Service (www.ajws.com), a charity that helps people around the world suffering from civil unrest, starvation, disease or the effects of natural disasters and which has played a massive part in the relief effort in Haiti.
