Benefit for Kenya orphans in Santa Monica April 15

'FLYING KITES' AND 'BACHELOR' MATT GRANT TEAM UP FOR BENEFIT AT EVERY PICTURE GALLERY There are over 2 million orphaned children in Kenya, living on the streets of Kenya, foraging garbage dumps for food, begging or stealing to survive. The Flying Kites Leadership Academy of Kenya cares for homeless, orphaned and abused children in Kenya -- offering them access to excellent medical service and first-class educations. The Children of 'Flying Kites' British financier Matthew Grant, the 2008 star of ABC-TV’s The Bachelor, brought the compelling cause to the attention of Santa Monica-based gallery, Every Picture Tells A Story and together they will host a benefit for Flying Kites at the gallery on April 15, from 6 to 9 PM. Last year, Matthew Grant led a team of fifteen that climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro as part of Flying Kites’ “Adventure Challenges” program, raising funds that enabled the school to build a new library and clinic. Grant’s photograp hs of that expedition and the Flying Kites children will be on exhibit at Every Picture Tells A Story during the benefit and he will speak about his e xperiences. Matthew Grant “The heart of Every Picture Tells A Story is the art from children’s books and this cause struck home with me,” s ays Lois Sarkisian, owner and founder of Every Picture Tells A Story. “I want to use our gallery to grow awareness of Flying Kites, and hopefully make a contribution in our own way.” Profits from the sale of Matthew Grant’s photographs and book sales during the event will benefit Flying Kites. In addition, attendees will be encouraged to purchase books for Flying Kites’ new library. Every Picture Tells A Story is located at 1333 Montana Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90403. Phone is (310) 451-2700.
