Towne Singers in Glendale May 22

“At the Movies”
Choral Concert by the Towne Singers
May 22, 2011 @ 4:30 p.m.
Glendale High School Auditorium, 1440 E. Broadway, Glendale, CA

On Sunday afternoon, May 22, La Cañada’s Towne Singers will pay tribute to the music of motion pictures in their annual Spring concert, “At the Movies.” The concert will be a whimsical showcase of themes and songs which have added drama and flair to the movie-going experience for the last several decades.

“Everyone knows the theme music for ‘Rocky’ and ‘The Pink Panther,’” said Beth Richey, the Towne Singers’ conductor. “But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We’ll be presenting a whole spectrum of tunes, both familiar and obscure, that exemplify music’s power to move and delight audiences.”

The concert will be held at Glendale High School Auditorium, 1440 East Broadway, starting at 4:30 p.m. Ticket information may be obtained by visiting the Towne Singers’ website at www.townesingers.org or by calling (818) 275-4117. Ticket prices are $20 at the door or $15 in advance. Children under age 10 are $8.

The Towne Singers, a 100-member community chorus, has been performing in venues throughout Southern California for nearly 25 years. The group has also performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City, in England, Scotland, and Ireland, and will be performing in the Greek Isles in the summer 2012.
