PASTA! A Pop Ups Puppet Musical will take you on a tasty and epic journey that gets you home in time for dinner. Join the Pop Ups (veteran kids’ rockers JACOB STEIN & JASON RABINOWITZ) for an educational and comic musical adventure through the magical land of Brooklyn. With the audience’s help, The Pop Ups search for the ingredients to make the best (locally sourced) pasta sauce ever. In fact, during this show run, we will be offering locally sourced, organic, gluten-free and sustainable pasta dinners following the shows beginning around 4 pm on Friday, Saturday & Sunday throughout the show run. These dinners will be held at the Electric Lodge and served with compostable utensils & dishware.
Warning: Prepare for a high-energy live act involving live-drawing, dance-beats, colorful puppets, animals, trains, guitar riffs, mermaids, gardens, instruments, vegetables, sparkles and rocking interactive dance numbers that catapult the audience out of their seats. OutWithTheKids.com says, “What we witnessed was quite possibly the greatest live kids concert we’ve seen (and we’ve seen a lot).”
This colorful and theatrical show is populated with puppets from the puppet shops of Julianna Parr (MUPPET SHOW, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL) and Ingrid Crepeaux (DINOSAUR ROCK), as well as terrific songs from The Pop Ups’ much buzzed about 2010 album, Outside Voices. Stefan Shepherd, (NPR, Zooglobble.com), calls the release “… nothing less than the kids music debut of the year!” The kids’ media blog NuggetIsland says Outside Voices “may be cooler than most of the albums in your 'adult' collection...". The album was recently recognized with a rave review from The Wall Street Journal, a National Association of Parenting Publications Award for best music, and is on the Top Ten of 2010 lists of The Washington Post, Time Out New York Kids, The Fids and Kamily Awards, Out with The Kids, and one of the Top Ten Kids Debut Albums by Zooglobble.
