Andy Clockwise in LA June 14, 25 & July 2

Los Angeles-based Australian indie-rock import ANDY CLOCKWISE will work both coasts in the next month when he brings his renowned, electric and raucous live show to both Los Angeles and New York for three unique shows in each city in support of his recent release THE SOCIALITE, it was announced today. Beginning June 14th, Clockwise will start the LA leg at the Satellite and wrap it with two shows at Hotel Café , before heading to New York for shows at Piano’s, Rockwood Music Hall and Brooklyn’s Union Hall.

Clockwise’s debut album The Socialite, released April 26th, has recently been receiving critical acclaim: “The Socialite sounds like refined Beck with a tad of Morrissey’s wit thrown in for good measure. This is the kind of ‘indie’ that speaks to more than just hipsters. It’s genuinely hip with a bewildering brilliance that warrants numerous listens,” said Artist Direct’s Rick Florino.

Clockwise has cemented his place in LA’s live music scene, since moving to the US two years ago, with his live shows selling out everywhere from the El Rey to the Troubadour and Spaceland. For the next three shows in LA, Clockwise is going to offer fans giveaways of free tracks and special arrangements in the performances including accompaniment by a string quartet, a performance of The Socialite from beginning to end and appearances from special guests who, in the past, have included indie songstress Lissie, Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa, Truth & Salvage Co. and more. Backed by drummer Jamie Douglass and Josh Norton on bass and guitar, the talented trio have a synergy and comfort on stage akin to veterans, creating a high-energy show that doesn’t lose speed during the ballads and yet, similarly, keeps expert control during the bravado-like numbers. Clearly influenced by the likes of Nick Cave, Bob Dylan, Prince and Tom Waits, Clockwise has a charmingly broad appeal.

Blending rock, pop, synth and punk into self-described “schizo pop,” the debut album from this electric live performer features 13 tracks, available on iTunes now. Recorded in Sydney, New York, London, Hollywood, airport bathrooms, hotel rooms, garages and other places around the world, The Socialite showcases the tremendous range of Clockwise’s musicianship with Clockwise writing each song and playing all instruments for the recorded tracks. From angst-filled indie/pop/rock numbers to ballads and performances that near an anthem rock feel, the 13 tracks on The Socialite parallel the raucous and relentless live performances that have popularized Clockwise.

Clockwise’s local success comes after achieving national success Down Under, including steady radio play and tours with bands like INXS and The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. More recently, Clockwise was featured in several showcases at the internationally-recognized 2011 SXSW music festival, including the Hotel Café, Little Radio and Aussie BBQ showcases.
