FM Pilots release new single today

Tulsa, Oklahoma’s budding new pop/rock act FM Pilots releases its latest single, “No Time to Waste,” via iTunes and all digital outlets on Tuesday, June 14. The song will also be serviced to radio outlets the same day for regional and national airplay.

Packed with chiming guitars, soaring vocals and an immediately memorable chorus, “No Time to Waste” simply feels like summer. A single listen instantly evokes images of summer love, laying by the pool or driving with the windows down, sun in your face and wind in your hair, making it a near perfect summer anthem that screams for its place on the airwaves.

FM Pilots was born out of a collaboration of old friends, when guitarist/vocalist Nick Whitaker rejoined with bassist Josh Davidson. With the addition of lead guitarist Josh Kephart and drummer Casey Meyering, the band found an immediate chemistry and swiftly churned out a self titled, four song debut EP. Airplay on local, Tulsa radio stations KMYZ (104.5FM) and KMOD (97.5FM) quickly followed and landed the band’s debut single, “Chasing,” on alt rock station Z104.5, The Edge’s 2010 Homegroan CD, featuring 14 of the region’s best rising bands.

As the band developed its live show with steady regional gigging and started to build a loyal following, the band’s increasing local buzz and strong songwriting prompted local paper Urban Tulsa Weekly to finger “Chasing” as a standout track on the Homegroan disc for “balancing indie rock aesthetic and an undeniable pop sensibility.” The paper also declared “(we) will be keeping an eye out for more from these guys in the near future.” (Nov. 3, 2010)

FM Pilots hasn’t slowed down or looked back since, scoring showcase spots at SXSW and Tulsa International Mayfest in the first half of 2011, gaining airplay on internet radio and being featured on The Next Big Thing In Rock CD, released in January 2011 on Tank Records.

Now, “No Time to Waste” perfectly positions FM Pilots to lodge itself in listeners’ subconscious and summer soundtracks as the band capitalizes on the song’s airy vibe and undeniable melodic hooks. The single also serves as a preview for the band’s upcoming album, planned for late summer release as the band continues to book summer tour dates with an eye on expanding its reach locally and gaining airplay in new markets.

Pay attention now as the June 14 release of “No Time To Waste” positions FM Pilots to become one of the summer’s hottest young pop bands.
