CALLING LOCAL MUSICIANS FOR GIMME THE GIG II
Talent sweepstakes is back for a second year and offers local musicians an opportunity to record with Grammy Award winning producer Don Was
WHO:
Ford Motor Company & Don Was, Grammy Award winning producer who was recently seen on American Idol.
WHAT:
For the second year in a row, Ford Motor Company is looking for the best independent musicians and bands out there, in a music video competition that will give not one but THREE talented musicians or bands the opportunity to record with Grammy Award winning producer Don Was in a 2012 Ford Focus that will be completely customized as a mobile mixing studio.
The GimmeTheGig sweepstakes allows for independent musicians to submit a You Tube link of an original piece of music online at www.gimmethegig.com to be voted on by visitors, fans and others. A qualified panel of judges will judge each Video submitted based on the following equally weighted criteria: Performance, Musical Ability, Originality and Overall Appeal (which will be determined in part by the number of “likes” and views for the Video).
Regional bands are then selected for the opportunity to perform live at a local Ford Focus Event that will take place all along the west coast starting in June and concluding at the end of this year.

Entries can be submitted starting June 15, 2011. Finalists will be contacted in December 2011.

DETAILS:
Last year, over 2,500 bands applied, over 650,000 people attended the events, over 250,000 fan votes, final show was broadcast live online and broadcast twice in HD on KTLA. In all, over 20 million people were touched by GimmeTheGig.
The program received the Gold Award and Multi-Venue Platform Award at the Event Marketer Magazine Summit in Chicago on May 16.
