Wicked Lit in LA June 15 and 16 - free!

Unbound Productions founders Jonathan Josephson, Paul Millet, and Jeff G. Rack have announced a special performance of the popular horror story adaptation series WICKED LIT that will take place at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles for 4 performances only: June 15 at 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and June 16 at 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., 2011. This installation of WICKED LIT will feature one short play, Mark Twain’s A Ghost Story adapted by Josephson, directed by Millet, and with production design by Rack. Josephson, Millet and Rack will also produce the event in conjunction with the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

“This fully realized production represents a first for Wicked Lit,” said Millet. “The dozen or so adaptations that the company has developed to date are each designed to run 20-30 minutes each and in groups of three – this production will feature just one 20-minute play.”Said Rack, “This is a perfect chance for fans of Wicked Lit to get a little taste of something new and for new fans of our series to experience what Wicked Lit is all about.”

The previous productions of WICKED LIT all included bills of three short plays produced in non-traditional theatre spaces. The 2009 production at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills featured Robert E Howard’s Pigeons From Hell, Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher, and Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. The 2010 production at Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery in Altadena was made up of H. P. Lovecraft’s The Unnamable, Poe’s The Cask of Amontillado, and Charles Dickens’ The Chimes. Both productions sold out.

“The Biltmore is an ideal setting for this fun, larger-than-life play that is set in an abandoned east coast hotel,” said playwright Josephson. “We couldn’t ask for a better setting or more perfect location for this special performance.”

A Ghost Story was included as part of the WICKED LIT play reading series in 2009 and received its world premiere at Omaha’s Shelterbelt Theatre in 2010. The cast for A Ghost Story includes Shelby Kocee (Shadow), Richard Large (The Ghost), Michael Perl (Vincent), and Michael Prichard (Shadow). The design team for A Ghost Story includes Costume Designer Christine Cover Ferro, Lighting Designer Ellen Monocroussos, Sound Designer Bill Froggatt and Make-up Designer Julie Pound.

Admission for A Ghost Story is FREE but RSVPs are highly encouraged, and donations are greatly appreciated.
