Hispanic Heritage Month Highlights on PBS SoCal


Saturday, Sept. 17, 9 p.m. – LATIN MUSIC, USA: “Bridges: The Salsa Revolution” – PREMIERE

Narrated by Jimmy Sims, this episode of Latin Music, USA focuses on the history of salsa music and its impact on American music genres such as jazz, rhythm and blues, hip hop, and rock ‘n’ roll.


Friday, Sept. 23, 9 p.m. – GREAT PERFORMANCES: “Placido Domingo: My Favorite Roles” – PREMIERE

Placido Domingo, one of the most popular and celebrated tenors of his generation, looks back and reflects on his favorite roles in opera houses around the world.



Sunday, Sept. 25, Noon – “Imagen Awards” – PREMIERE

The Imagen Awards aim to recognize and reward positive portrayals of Latinos in all forms of media, as well as to encourage and recognize the achievements of Latinos in the entertainment and communications industries. (Repeats Sunday October 9, at Noon).



Friday, Sept. 30, 10 p.m. – “In Performance at the White House: Fiesta Latina” – PREMIERE

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama host a White House concert in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.
