Shimmy Showcase returns to Long Beach Oct. 23

Dear Coordinators, Dancers, Supporters, and Friends of Shimmyshowcase:



I have GREAT NEWS! We have a new Shimmyshowcase venue for at least the balance of this year!



Please mark your calendar for Shimmyshowcase’s debut on at Viento y Agua Coffee House on OCTOBER 23.



After nearly two months hiatus, we are celebrating Shimmyshowcase’s grand re-opening at this great new Long Beach venue with dancers Bella, Francesca, Sarah al Nour, and Paquita. After losing our previous venue (what was it called again?), I received many emails from Shimmyshowcase supporters offering encouragement to find a new venue to keep this Long Beach bellydance institution alive. Thanks to Shimmyshowcase dancers Bella and Draca, who suggested Viento y Agua as a possibility, we were able to check them out last month. We really like this place and think you will too! Please plan to come around 5:15 on October 23, get delicious and nutritious light dinner, snack and delectable coffee from the friendly staff behind the counter, and then head over to the entertainment area to enjoy what promises to be a great show!



Please note we’ll be starting future Shimmyshowcases at a new, earlier time of 5:30 p.m.

October 30 -- This is the evening Viento y Agua becomes haunted as coordinator Ilana, assisted by guest dancers Meryem Vani, Draca, and Tehani , perform routines that will give you thrills and chills at the annual “Shiver Showcase.” If you would like to have a scary good time, please be sure to join us for this always popular seasonal theme. We encourage everyone—not just the dancers –to wear costumes for this showcase—the scarier the better!



November 6 -- Shimmyshowcase invites you to ”Escape to the Future” as Xandra the Cyborg and her band of other-worldly beings, aka Zahir & Eve , Meryem Vani, and Bella take you away from the trials and tribulations of life today into a world of Science Fiction and fantasy. There’s room for one more dancer, so if you’d always dreamed of being an extra-terrestrial, please contact us at Shimmyshowcase@gmail.com. We invite everyone to come attired as your favorite nerd, alien, ‘droid or intergalactic superhero to help set the mood and just have some great fun! This promises to be a totally delightful event, so be sure you don’t miss it!



November 13 -- Back by popular request, Amber Ray presents the second annual Shimmyshowcase Reggae Night! It’s time once again to put on your mellow and enjoy a “natural high.” Xandra is still working to confirm dancers previously signed up for the September showcase that wasn’t—please stay tuned for details in an upcoming announcement!
