This month’s speaker will be Vincent Fortanasce, M.D., Board Certified in neurology and rehabilitation, psychiatrist and renowned bioethicist. In August of 2002, during a service trip to Rome, Dr. Vincent Fortanasce was summoned to tend to Pope John Paul II. Upon a physical examination, Dr. Fortanasce discovered that the Pope was suffering from Parkinson’s disease, a brain disorder that causes shaking and problems with coordination. It is this half-hour experience that remains one of the largest memories for Dr. Fortansce, who still has holy water that was personally blessed by the Pope.
