April 22 - Draca welcomes guest dancers Lala, Dalilah, and Tehani and her student dance ensemble to dazzle you with some great bellydancing moves. Everyone is invited for a relaxing evening among friends. Select your favorite beverage, hot or cold, from an assortment of coffees, teas, smoothies or juice; add to that a tasty sandwich or pastry; and then seat yourself in the entertainment area to enjoy some really great dancing at NO cover charge!
SUNDAY SHIMMY SHOWCASE begins on most Sundays at 5:30 p.m. at Viento y Agua Coffee House in Long Beach at 4007 East 4th Street; 562-434-1182. Occasionally we have Saturday showcases beginning a bit later. Please refer to the detailed schedule below for more information.
Note—N405-W22 (7th St) transition is closed for construction, so for those coming from the south, the best way is to exit the 405 at Westminster as the detour indicates. Then take Westminster through the PCH intersection until it turns into 2nd street. Take the first right immediately after the bridge and an immediate left. That street will turn into 4th and Viento Y Aqua will be on the right.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before show time (earlier if you’re a performer!), so you can first stop at the refreshment counter to get a delicious beverage, snack or sandwich; then head for the show area and grab a seat so you don’t miss any of our great performers!

April 29 - Blues is in the House on this night as coordinator Ilana returns with this popular Shimmyshowcase theme and welcomes guest dancers Rosé, Jayel, Rima, and Tehani. If you’re a belly dance fan who also loves Blues or Jazz, then this is the showcase for you! We have some fabulous dancers lined up who will show you some great moves. Please join us at Viento y Agua this Sunday for a wonderful evening of great dancing and music.
May 5 (Saturday) - Shimmyshowcase presents a special Saturday evening program as Viento y Agua goes back to the Victorian era with Saviya presenting a Vaudvillian/Victorian inspired belly dancing program with guest dancers Anastasia, Rebekah, Belly Muñeca, Bella, Sarah al Nour, and fellow Showcase coordinator Draca. Our very special guest artist and friend DeAnna Cameron, inspiration for this showcase, will read from her latest vaudeville-themed novel set in the Victorian era and will be autographing copies of her new book during the break where you may be further entertained by a surprise roving musician! We encourage everyone—guests and performers--to set the mood by wearing Victorian (including steampunk) costumes. Prizes will be awarded for the best ones! This special Saturday Shimmyshowcase will begin around 7:00 pm on May 5. If you love belly dance, vaudeville, or just dressing in Victorian/steam punk attire, mark your calendars now so you can join us for this blast from the past!
May 13—Mothers’ Day—DARK
May 20 - Abraiha welcomes May, Rosé, and Janice, returning to Shimmyshowcase to perform their dazzling moves for you and introduces Kelsey in her Shimmyshowcase debut.
May 27 – Shimmyshowcase presents “In Memoriam.” This will be a program of reflection and remembrance dedicated to those who have impacted our lives. Coordinator Xandra is thrilled to welcome the exquisite Kamar, Bathsheba, Sabrina, and male dancer Daa-Uud to Viento y Agua on this Memorial Day eve.
June 3—NO SHIMMYSHOWCASE –this is Cairo Caravan weekend. For more info check www.mecda.org .
