Whiteny Droken to host Hathaway-Sycamores party May 18

KCBS news and traffic reporter Whitney Drolen promises to keep the evening's festivities lively as she emcees Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services' 19th Hole After-Party on May 18 at Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland. The After-Party, which will be held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will cap off Hathaway-Sycamores' annual "Shot-at-a-Million" Golf Classic fundraiser.

As the event's name implies, one lucky/skilled golfer—if he or she manages to sink a hole-in-one—could walk away with a cool $1million while, at the same time, helping abused and neglectedyoungsters rebuild their lives. There are several ways to support this extremely worthwhile event, proceeds from which will provide much-needed therapeutic services and compassionate care for the more than 7,000 children and families served by Hathaway-Sycamores, Los Angeles County's largest provider of children's mental-health services.

Diehard golf enthusiasts can opt for the Longest Day of Golf in which participants tee off at 7 a.m. and play at their own pace until 5:30 p.m. Each golfer contributes or raises $1,500 and receives admission for two at the 19th Hole After-Party and one “Shot-at-a-Million” qualifying opportunity. For golfers who don't want to hit the links so early, there's the 9-Hole Team Challenge from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Here, teams of two compete in a two-person scramble "scratch" format. Cost is $500 per team and includes two tickets for each golfer to the 19th Hole After-Party and one “Shot-at-a-Million” qualifying opportunity per player. For those who can't hit the links at all, there's the 19th Hole After-Party. For $50 per person, guests will enjoy five-star food and drink, entertainment, and a bird's-eye view of those golfers trying to hit a hole-in-one and become an instant millionaire. Emcee Drolen will bring the evening to an exciting conclusion by raffling off two trips for two to New York and Maui. Raffle tickets are $20 each, and winners need not be present.
