DATES: JUNE 1 & 2, 2012

NOT JUST MUSIC, BUT INCREDIBLE FOOD AND WINE: The 2012 Huichica Music Festival is unique for a number of reasons, not the least of which being that the fest will showcase not only its incredible lineup of bands, but an exceptional array of local, artisanal food and wine.
Throughout the weekend, Gundlach Bundschu Winery will be serving their incredible wines and offering ticketholders 21 and over unique opportunities to learn about growing, making and enjoying wine. They’ve partnered with local chefs and farmers to create a home-grown food, wine and music experience unlike any other festival.
The winery’s FARM to BARREL to TABLE to AMPLIFIER dinner on June 1st, helmed by master Chef Chad Harris of The Fremont Diner and vintner Jeff Bundschu, will host an unconventional winemaker dinner and concert. Festival goers and bands will dine together family-style on a three course menu of ‘serious southern food with distinct local sensibility’. Chef Harris will source all the ingredients from local farms and pair them with an array of Gundlach Bundschu wines. After dinner, Occidental Brothers Dance Band International will perform in the winery’s gorgeous, rustic century-old redwood barn.
On Saturday, the winery will be closed to the public all day, giving Huichica Festival goers 21-and-over exclusive access to WINE CITY, where they can taste Gundlach Bundschu’s small-lot, estate-grown wines in the historic stone winery, and enjoy a number of activities in the winery courtyard. You can get a tasting tutorial from the winemaking experts, take educational tours with viticulturists & ecologists, and learn about food and wine pairing with artisanal cheesemakers from Bellwether Farms, charcuterie-makers Zoe’s Meats and Poco Dolce chocolatiers. In addition to the delicious wines for sale, a few limited edition signed and etched bottles will be auctioned off to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Sonoma Valley.
FOOD CITYwill feature an amazing collection of hand-curated, local food carts serving affordable, local, gourmet food, including southern favorites from The Fremont Diner, hand-made, wood-fired pizzas by Mike the Bekjr, legendary organic Yucatecan food by Chaac Mool, and artisan coffee from local roaster Equator Coffee. ABOUT THE HUICHICA MUSIC FESTIVAL:
There are a lot of music festivals these days. They vary in scope from giant scale corporate behemoths featuring A-list headliners and a slew of up-to-the-minute buzz bands to tiny street fairs. Somewhere down the middle path exists a new breed of homegrown boutique fest, usually curated and produced by one or two people, often artist-led, and mainly tailored towards vibe. A good rule of thumb for this type of event is that it’s best if it occurs in a stunningly beautiful place.
Now in its third year, the Huichica Music Festival in Sonoma, California is the embodiment of this new breed of festival—gorgeous location, experientially fantastic for both artists and fans, hand-picked and extra-awesome lineup, and more.
The idea for Huichica was born of a chance meet up of vintner Jeff Bundschu and Fruit Bats founder Eric D. Johnson. Bundschu, also a concert producer, had hosted amazing nights with Jonathan Rice and Deer Tick on the redwood stage at his 150 year-old winery, Gundlach Bundschu. Johnson had always wanted to put on a small festival, and after a Fruit Bats show at Bundschu’s winery, he knew exactly where he wanted to do it.
Johnson’s festival idea was especially informed by the new breed of concert and festival promoters - people like Britt Govea, whose FolkYeah Productions has put on shows in Big Sur and other California dream worlds - and Zale Schoenborn and Terry Groves, whose Pickathon Festival in Portland is one of the greenest, most tightly curated and overtly artist-friendly festivals in the world. The idea? If the bands are happy and want to hang out, the shows are better, and the fans are happier.
One way to ensure that everyone is happy is by focusing not only on hosting an incredible weekend of music in a jaw-dropping setting, but by placing a heavy emphasis on the celebration of the incredible artisan foods and wine available in Sonoma. Friday evening, a world-class farm-to-table—to-amp dinner will be available, featuring Fremont Diner, , Equator Coffee and amazing, small-lot wines from Gundlach Bundschu.
Ticket prices are going to remain low—this is high-class, low-price, all pure enjoyment. We can’t wait to hear from you.

MORE ABOUT GUNDLACH BUNDSCHU:
Founded in 1858, Gundlach Bundschu is California’s oldest family run winery. Currently run by the sixth generation of the Bundschu family, the historic winery focuses on making small lots of estate-grown wines from its sustainably farmed vineyard in southern Sonoma Valley at the base of the Mayacamas Mountain Range. The family meticulously farms its steep hillsides to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while blocks on the cool clay loam soil of the Valley floor are ideally suited for limited production Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer and Chardonnay. After over 150 years, Gundlach Bundschu remains focused on the future—approaching its vineyards, wine and world with spirit, creativity and dedication to excellence. The family is proud to share more than just its profound wines, but its personal connection to the land upon which its legacy continues. Gundlach Bundschu is located at 2000 Denmark Street in Sonoma, CA. For more information, please visit www.gunbun.com.
