Miami-based EDM duo Klaypex drops its debut EP, LOOSE DIRT, for the first time on CD via Hypnotic (Cleopatra Records) on August 28. With both elements of dubstep and electro club, LOOSE DIRT is an upbeat, accessible, and already buzzed-about late summer dance party.
With influences that range from Trent Reznor to Thom Yorke, and inspiration taken from movies and soundtracks, it’s no wonder Klaypex is able to bridge up- and down-tempo, dub and club. LOOSE DIRT showcases the young artists’ exceptional skills, and features two critically-acclaimed, innovative dubstep/glitch tracks, “Lights” and Rain.” “Rain” features frequent Klaypex vocalist Sara Kay.
Says Cleopatra President Brian Perara, “Unfortunately a lot of the electronic music that’s coming out today is not coming out on CD or any kind of physical product. I heard Klaypex released a digital version which actually got into the Billboard Heatseekers chart, with no physical product whatsoever, so this will be the first time Klaypex is available on CD.”
Johnny Atar and Mark Emmanuel, the two people that make up Klaypex, were friends in Canada, and had performed in rock and alternative bands before deciding to create beats together. When one had to move to Miami with family, the other followed to keep making music. Klaypex self-released LOOSE DIRT online only, and the video for “Dubstep Guns” earned more than ten million views! The duo followed it up with several well-received remixes of Ellie Goulding, Daft Punk, and Innerpartysystem.
