For a band that's been around less than two years, Philadelphia's LUTHER certainly has some impressive fans. From being asked to play at Hot Water Music's record release show to summer and fall tours with The Bouncing Souls to opening shows for Braid, The Smoking Popes and Dead to Me in their hometown, the band certainly seems to have caught the ears of all the right people. Now Chunksaah Records has announced that they will be putting out the band's debut full-length on October 9, 2012. Titled Let's Get You Somewhere Else (tracklisting and album art below), the album was recorded and produced by The Bouncing Soul's guitarist Pete Steinkopf in his Little Eden Studios and mastered by Nick Zampiello and Rob Gonnella at New Alliance East (Torche, Against Me!, Piebald).

All 11 songs on Let's Get You Somewhere Else buzz with a upbeat, driving momentum, calling to mind The Get Up Kids, Samiam, Jimmy Eat World and Hüsker Dü but stamped with an updated indie-rock edge that cements the sound as firmly Luther's own. The jangly, suspenseful build-up of album opener "The Concrete Sound", the noodling guitars and anthemic chorus of "A Quiet Stretch of Weather" and the undeniably catchy "The Glory Bees" (which threatens to become stuck in your head for days) are just a handful of the songs on this debut that demonstrate why Luther has so quickly gained the esteem of those who influenced their sound.
Their debut EP Siblings & Sevens was heralded by AMP Magazine as "one of the best records of 2011", with Altsounds saying "Luther have an endearing charm... the seeds are definitely planted for the future." Over a year later with several national tours under their belt it seems that the future is now for the band with the release of Let's Get You Somewhere Else. Luther is also preparing to tour parts of North America, including a Canadian tour with Chunksaah labelmates The Bouncing Souls and Dave Hause this fall (all tour dates below).
Luther is Phil Warner (Vocals/Guitar), Andy Clarke (Drums), Nick Harris (Vocals/Guitar), and Greg Karlowitsch (Bass).
