Rock & Brews to add Torrance location

Zislis/Furano Group-owned Rock & Brews has won, “with a little help from our friends,” unanimous approval at a local city council meeting to roll forward with its planned expansion and second location in Los Angeles’ South Bay.

South Bay entrepreneur Jon Mesko, in association with Rock & Brews co-founders, Los Angeles restaurateur Michael Zislis, rock icon and KISS front man Gene Simmons, and rock promoter Dave Furano,  will be the owner-operator of the newly approved Torrance, Calif. based restaurant. According to Mesko, the principals plan to begin construction work immediately and look forward to a spring 2013 opening.
Gratified by community support and favorable neighborhood response, the partners adjusted their initial, estimated $1 million restaurant design to eliminate potential noise concerns, and Tuesday evening, Torrance City Council unanimously voted to approve the new design plan for the property, located on Pacific Coast Highway in The Riviera Village.

The “indoor/outdoor concept” modifications to the original restaurant design enclose one of two planned outdoor dining patios and replace half of the steel building’s roll-up doors with fixed exterior walls. The approved project, which received strong community support, constitutes a major beautification initiative for the property and will create over 50 new local jobs.

According to Mesko, “We know that people enjoy an indoor and outdoor dining experience, especially here in southern California where we have great weather most of the year. However we also want to be sensitive to our neighbors, and not cause any adverse effect on the community, which is why we made so many modifications to our plans over the past few months.”
Already, plans are in place for a grand opening event to be dedicated as a fundraiser for the Torrance Education Foundation. The partners are also in discussions to help resurrect the city’s July 4th Celebration that was discontinued in 2011, due to budget cuts.

Rock & Brews, El Segundo, the partners’ highly successful flagship, continues to enjoy overwhelmingly positive community support. Other Rock & Brews restaurant locations now in pre-construction include Los Angeles International Airport as well as Los Cabos and Maui, all slated to open in mid 2013.

A “beer and rock & roll inspired dream” of its partners, the Rock & Brews restaurant concept captures the excitement of live concerts in an authentically themed backstage environment that includes Rock & Brews’ “The Great Wall of Rock” with album and rock art, and multiple flat screen televisions. Its menu of rock musicians’ favorite foods feed the soul as well as the appetite, and features an ever-changing, award-winning craft beer selection offers hundreds of international artisanal breweries, served up by a knowledgeable staff. Over 50 craft beers and wine are always available on tap, along with over 50 more by the bottle. The atmosphere is casual, family and dog friendly, with a play area for kids and another for four-legged guests. For more information on Rock & Brews, visitwww.rockandbrews.com.
