On Friday, December 5, the campaign continues in Berkeley where microphones will be rocked, and fans will be moved. Standout indie MC turned breakout star, Murs, will take to the stage in the intimate confines of the Shattuck Downlow on the heels of his first major label release, Murs for President.

Murs' verses are introspective, honest and laced with wry wit, reflecting his sharp intellect and Los Angeles bred street sense. On Murs for President, standout cuts, Can It Be, Everything and Break Up, stay true to the Murs' that loyal fans know and love, while tracks, I'm Fly and Breakthrough, ratchet up the swagger for this backpack rap star's first foray into the mainstream.

First gaining attention in the early 90s as a member of California's hyper-productive Living Legends crew and Los Angeles based rap group, 3 Melancholy Gypsies (3MG), Murs acclaim accelerated in the indie hip-hop scene circa 2003 on the strength of his first solo release, the End of the Beginning. In the following years, Murs added a full length collaboration with Atmosphere's Slug (under the pseudonym, Felt) and a partnership with producer extraordinaire, 9th Wonder, that produced two critically praised albums, Murs 3:16, the 9th Edition and Murray's Revenge.

On stage, Murs is personable, charismatic and connects intuitively with the crowd, firing off jam after memorable jam with rows of fans rapping along throughout the show. Friday is expected to sell out just like Murs' most recent performance in the Bay Area. Opening acts are to be announced, tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door which opens at 9pm. 21+ to enter.
