I will be at the Fret House in Covina a week from Saturday. I'm doing a co-bill with the wonderful Brad Colerick. He's a tremendous talent, and I'm thrilled that the good folks at The Fret House have asked us over. We'll each do a full fifty-minute set, with a break in between for refreshments and general frivolity.
For those of you unfamiliar with this place, let me bring you up to speed. The Fret House is a guitar store located right in the old center of Covina. They have long been known as a real player's shop. The walls are lined with all the good stuff: Martins, Taylors, Gibsons, and a great selection of lesser known Luthier-built guitars. It's a great place to visit, if only to hang out and play some beautiful instruments. They also do repairs and teach. Everything a small, dedicated music store should be.
And down below, in the full basement is a listening room that rivals anything in Los Angeles. The Fret House is regularly referred to as McCabes junior. They get really good acts there. Brad and I are very happy to have landed a night.
So come on out and be with us. Brad is appearing solo, and I am with my core group: Just the amazing Greg Krueger on his bag-of-tricks selection of stringed instuments and my main girl, Lisa Turner, singing harmony. No keyboards or bass this time, and nothing electric. I'm really looking forward to this return to simplicity. And I'll be sharing a few new songs that I've been told are among my best.
