Country artists go one "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" to help charity

CMT invites country music stars to take on 5th graders for a good cause when the popular series ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER? launches with a special country music-themed week, beginning Monday, September 21 at 8:00 - 8:30 p.m., ET/PT.

Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, country stars Big Kenny, Bucky Covington, Jack Ingram, Heidi Newfield and Emily West tackle subjects ranging from geography to social studies in each half-hour episode to benefit their charity of choice.

The official “Country Music Week” line-up for ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER? is as follows:

Monday, 9/21 – Big Kenny (benefits Love Everybody)

Tuesday, 9/22 – Heidi Newfield (benefits National MS Society)

Wednesday, 9/23 – Bucky Covington (benefits the Arthritis Foundation)

Thursday, 9/24 – Jack Ingram (benefits Tom’s Shoes)

Friday, 9/25 – Emily West (benefits the Alzheimer Foundation of America)

From Mark Burnett Productions, Jeff Foxworthy hosts this new, fast-paced half-hour syndicated version of 5TH GRADER that measures adults' lack of knowledge – as revealed by how much they've forgotten since grammar school. Grownups find themselves in a classroom setting, revisiting their youth, as they tackle subjects they were taught years ago ranging from art to geography and math to social studies.

In ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?, however, the players are not alone and there is a way for contestants to "cheat" in this classroom. The adults have the opportunity to get some help – in the form of elementary advice from real 5th graders who always seem to know more than the contestants. The series will air weeknights on CMT (check CMT.com for schedule information).
