People's Choice Awards launches jewelry contest

People’s Choice, through a partnership with jewelry designer Kendra Scott, is offering a unique opportunity for aspiring designers to create a necklace to be worn during the live People’s Choice Awards telecast in 2010 and to be sold in stores nationwide. The winning designer will receive a trip to Los Angeles to rub elbows with the stars at the People's Choice Awards and an additional trip to Austin, Texas to visit Scott’s design studio and stay at her chic, downtown loft.

From August 25 until September 14, www.pcaVOTE.com will feature a custom designed program enabling users to mix and match stones, chains and metals to create the ultimate signature necklace. On September 21, Scott will select the top three designs and post them back on the website for fans to vote for their favorite. All voters will automatically be entered in a contest for the chance to win a trip to the People’s Choice Awards or the winning necklace. The winning design will be revealed on October 5.

"I am honored to partner with People’s Choice for this exciting project," said Kendra Scott. "This is an amazing opportunity that will give the chosen new talent a chance to explore the inside world of fashion jewelry design."

"There’s no better place to showcase jewelry than on a Hollywood red carpet, and we are proud to offer an up-and-coming designer the chance to get in the game," said Fred Nelson, President, People’s Choice. "Through our annual awards show and year round on our website, we are in the business empowering fans to influence entertainment. With Kendra’s help, we have created yet another terrific opportunity."
