Minivan Productions will present an all-ages concert series at the Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice, CA, featuring some of the top artists in the indie children’s music genre. The Minivan Kids Series debuts on Sunday, November 15th with a concert by the Hollow Trees, a nationally acclaimed band based in Los Angeles known for their high energy acoustic Americana style of music. The family hootenanny begins at 11 am.
Minivan Productions, founded in May 2009 by music industry veteran Dan Perloff, is a new record label/production company for artists and projects in the kids’/children’s/family music genre. The company debuted with the release of Peter Himmelman’s My Trampoline this fall, which has already won awards from NAPPA and Parents’ Choice.

“There are some great venues and kids’ concert series all around Los Angeles, but none yet in Venice where I reside so teaming up with a great venue like Air Conditioned was a natural fit. It’s a beautiful space with a nice stage and a big floor for kids to dance and run around and have a great time,” says Perloff.
A December 2009 concert featuring Minivan artist Peter Himmelman will be announced soon, and then the monthly series will pick up again in January 2010.
The Hollow Trees combine the musical styles of bluegrass, country, folk, blues and jazz and put their stamp on many traditional folk songs as well as original compositions. Their latest release is Welcome to Nelsonville, reflecting the band’s whimsical world where animals play and sing together in a hollow tree. The Hollow Trees’ show is geared toward children ages 1-7, but the humor and sophisticated musicianship make it fun for all ages. Visit http://www.thehollowtrees.com for more information.
