Superstar Carrie Underwood visits the INVITATION ONLY stage to perform her chart-toppers as well as music from her new album, Play On, on Tuesday, December 1 at 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., ET/PT on CMT. Taped in Nashville, INVITATION ONLY: CARRIE UNDERWOOD features the country sweetheart performing before a small studio audience, taking questions from fans and giving revealing and candid answers.
In this one-hour special, Underwood performs her biggest hits including “Before He Cheats,” “Last Name” and “So Small,” in addition to new, lively and energetic songs “Cowboy Casanova” and “Undo It” from Play On. During a casual question and answer segment with the audience, Underwood discusses how life has changed since “American Idol,” admits to being a sci-fi junkie, confesses she still gets excited when she hears her music on the radio, and more.
In addition to Underwood, upcoming episodes of INVITATION ONLY feature Brooks & Dunn premiering this Friday, October 30 at 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. and Tim McGraw on Friday, November 13 at 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. All times are ET/PT. Previous episodes have featured Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker and Keith Urban.
Underwood will release a new album, Play On, November 3 on 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville with producer Mark Bright. The four-time Grammy winner, 2009 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Entertainer of the Year and three-time reigning Country Music Association (CMA) and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year, wrote seven songs on the album. PLAY ON’s first single, “Cowboy Casanova,” is the fastest rising hit of the year at country radio and exploded with massive first-week sales of 110,236 digital copies. With this achievement, Underwood remains the only solo country artist this year to debut a digital single above the 100,000 mark – a feat she’s accomplished not once, but twice in 2009, having also hit the six digits with her recording of this past season’s American Idol farewell theme, “Home Sweet Home.”
Earlier this year, Underwood became the first country artist in history to achieve 10 #1 singles from their first two albums when “I Told You So” became the fifth consecutive chart-topper from Carnival Ride, which also included the smash, “Just a Dream,” and three hits Underwood co-wrote: “So Small,” “All-American Girl,” and “Last Name.” To date, Underwood is the U.S. best-selling American Idol winner with album sales over 10 million. On November 11, Underwood will co-host the 43rd Annual CMA Awards.
INVITATION ONLY: CARRIE UNDERWOOD is a High-Five Entertainment production, with Martin Fischer and Edie Lynn Hoback serving as executive producers. Margaret Comeaux and John Hamlin serve as executive producers for CMT.
