Pasadena's water future to be discussed Wednesday

The future of Pasadena’s water supply, the role of water as a natural resource spanning from the San Gabriel Mountains to urbanized Pasadena, and state and federal regulatory options that will affect water locally will be the topics of the next General Plan Speaker Series event Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the PCC Community Education Center, 3035 E. Foothill Blvd.

Guest speakers will be Phyllis Currie, general manager of Pasadena Water and Power; Tim Brick, chairman of the board of Metropolitan Water District; and Nancy Steele, executive director of Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council. Interim San Gabriel City Manager Steve Preston will moderate the discussion, which will be followed by a question-and-answer period with the audience.

The final speaker series event on Nov. 4 will focus on Pasadena’s plans and the marketplace.

A community open house extravaganza Saturday, Nov. 14, will be the culmination of General Plan public engagement activities – including workshops and MoveAbout Tours – in advance of updates to the Land Use, Mobility, and Open Space and Conservation Elements of Pasadena’s General Plan.
