25TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
WHAT: In celebration of their 25th anniversary, the Surfrider Foundation is hosting a star-studded gala on Friday, October 9, 2009. The evening, hosted by Mark Hoppus, will honor Incubus, Pearl Jam and David Chokachi with Keepers of the Coast awards, which are bestowed upon celebrities who have made significant contributions in helping the Foundation fulfill its mission. A special performance by musical super group Camp Freddy will close out the evening.
Additionally, the event will feature a live auction, “Art For The Oceans III,” showcasing one-of-a-kind art by some of the world’s most revered contemporary artists, including Raymond Pettibon, Shepard Fairey and Thomas Campbell. The artists (25 in all) created a commissioned piece depicting some of the world’s most iconic (and in some cases threatened) surf breaks.
The Surfrider Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Gala is presented by Brita Filter For Good and Barefoot Wine. Media partners are Filter Magazine and FUEL TV, which will air a special on the Foundation November 23rd.
