ROME
(Soul Children, JuJu, Wax On, The 4-Mula)
DJ Rome of The Soul Children has been a native of Los Angeles his entire life. His love for music reaches way back to pre-kindergarten when he would spend hours playing soulful 45’s on a mini-record player. He’s been hooked on records ever since he first saw Barry White’s “I’ve Got So Much To Give” LP spinning on the turntableof the family console. Heavily influenced by such artists as George Clinton, Parliament-Funkadelic, Cameo, Brass Construction, War, Earth Wind & Fire and Prince, Rome noticed a disturbing absence of these funk icons in most DJ sets throughout the L.A. underground, and thus, he seized the opportunity to fill the void.

His extended and recurring residencies have included venues like Industry Jazz Cafe (Culver City), Bar One(N. Hollywood), Air Conditioned Lounge (Santa Monica), Cafe Luna Sol, On The Rox (The Roxy), Viper Room, 5th Street Dicks/Chaos Cafe in Leimert Park, House of Blues (Sunset Strip,) The Mint, Zanzibar, and Little Temple.

He has been a resident of every Soul Children function including "Brown Rice N’BBQ," "Together," "Together Again," and "JUJU", and has been the in-house DJ or guest MC with such artists as George Clinton, Lina, Joi, Mark De Clive-Lowe(The Politik), Raul Midon, Kim Hill, PJ Butta, Laurnea (pronounced Lor-Nay) {Arrested Development, Loose Ends), Joy Jones, Ladybug Mecca (The Digable Planets), KC & The Sunshine Band, Res (pronounced REESE), Eric Roberson, Dead Prez, Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), Graph Nobel, Michael McDonald, Teena Marie, Sy Smith, Erykah Badu, and Kenny Lattimore & Chante Moore .

For 7 years, Rome was a production assistant on KCRW with Garth Trinidad on the show formerly known as "Chocolate City." Furthermore, he has worked with the Temple Bar in Santa Monica, California, a popular West coast venue that was known globally for hosting some of the most universally eclecticartists throughout the world with a distinct focus on neo-soul music. He advances his career with continuing DJ residencies and guest appearances at venues throughout the city.
