Mastodon to tour

Globally celebrated, critically revered hard rock masterminds, MASTODON can now announce their spring headline tour of North America which will begin April 16, 2010. The tour presented by Volcom, will feature support from special guests, Between The Buried And Me, Baroness and Valient Thorr. Dates are listed below along with a MISSING LINK to be announced soon.

MASTODON’S current Reprise album, CRACK THE SKYE continues to command media attention finishing out 2009 even stronger than it started by placing on numerous “Year End / Best of 2009” critics' lists and readers' polls including an impressive #8 entry on the prestigious Village Voice Annual Pazz & Jop Critics Poll’s “Top 25 Albums of 2009” list.

For the past eleven months MASTODON have toured the world on their own as well as a co-headline tour with Dethklok and dates overseas supporting Metallica which continues to expand their notoriety as a peerless live force of nature. This tour will bring the band to the fans in American cities that have yet to experience the CRACK THE SKYE live event: “Mastodon has rightfully emerged as one of the 21st century’s most mesmerizing bands. Mastodon created an aura-rich atmosphere rife with roaring volumes, corrugated rhythms, and trance-inducing intricacies. Dynamic and stormy, it was the equivalent of being dragged feet-first into a turbulent spirit world.” – Bob Gendron / Tone Audio.Com

“It was a marvel to watch the four men weave in and out of the music…the members were precisely attuned to what was going on around them.” – The Boston Globe

Hey collectors – we’ve got some news for you: In keeping with MASTODON tradition, we will offer a new, Limited Tour Only color vinyl edition of CRACK THE SKYE. As always, these sell out fast so be prepared. Also, April 17, 2010 is National Record Store Day and MASTODON will celebrate with special vinyl reissues of BLOOD MOUNTAIN in both standard and Deluxe Editions, the later pressed on double 45 RPM discs on super heavy 180 gram vinyl housed in a grand gatefold sleeve. Naturally both will feature new custom art from Paul Romano. These too, will not last long.

As previously reported, the limited “ROYAL EDITION” of CRACK THE SKYE (album on disc along with a second disc containing the complete album score housed in gold foil embossed Digi-book package with all new gold and black logo artwork designed by Paul Romano) is very close to becoming extinct and gone for good, along with all the previous limited edition packages and vinyl pressings. Get ‘em while you can. Keep an eye on the website for future offers. Until then, don’t miss the mighty MASTODON this April.
