MORNING PROGRAM – 10:30 - NOON: LINDA MERRIFIELD "THREAD ARTISTRY – TURNING PICTURES INTO THREAD PAINTINGS"
Linda is a WAC member who has been passionate about free-motion embroidery for the past 32 years! She received her first instruction in this technique in 1977 after seeing it demonstrated at a sewing show at the Los Angeles Convention Center. She was immediately hooked. She had been a garment sewer for many years yet loved the uniqueness this gave to her one-of-kind garments. Linda won Best Jacket/Vest category and Honorable Mention for two other garments at the Road to California Quilt show in 2007.

THIS MONTH’S WORKSHOP: FEBRUARY 21 & 22
LINDA MERRIFIELD
"THREAD ARTISTRY - TURNING PICTURES INTO THREAD PAINTINGS"
WORKSHOP
Learn how to turn pictures into thread paintings on ANY sewing machine using 40wt machine embroidery thread. "Thread paintings" (also known as free-motion embroideries) may then be applied to wearable art clothing you’ve made or garments you have purchased, pillows, quilt blocks etc.

I was introduced to this technique more than 32 years ago and have enhanced it to a style of my own which I am happy to share with you. Once you learn to move the wooden hoop the possibilities are endless. Guaranteed to expand your sewing expertise!

You will have your choice of 3 different pictures; a pair of Zebras, or a Bent Neck Giraffe for beginners and I will also offer a 20" tall standing Geisha for the advanced students who already have precise hoop control. There’s no stress, just 2 days of fun!!!

LOCATION: Bags & Bobbins, 855 W. Foothills Blvd., Claremont, CA. COST: $60per day for members, $70 per day for non-members
